Everything your garage needs

GearHeadOS brings the scattered shoebox of receipts, spreadsheets, and memories into one place that's actually a pleasure to use.

Log services with the date and mileage. See the whole service history per car at a glance.

Parts on the shelf

Track the parts you have and what each is for — stop buying the same gasket twice.

The full timeline

Every record, receipt, and milestone in one chronological story per build.

Documents & receipts

Attach invoices, manuals, and photos straight to the vehicle.

Odometer & reminders

Track miles and get reminded what's due next.

Built dark, ready light

Full dark mode, responsive, and mobile-first — at home on the workbench or the phone.

See it in motion

A garage that runs itself

Built around the way enthusiasts actually work — not a spreadsheet in disguise.

Connected to the things that matter

No more chasing specs across five tabs. GearHeadOS pulls the official data so your garage is accurate from day one — and keeps getting smarter.

Live now
Live

Decode a VIN, instantly

Paste a 17-character VIN and GearHeadOS pulls year, make, model, trim, drivetrain, engine, and more from the NHTSA vPIC database — pre-filling the whole vehicle in seconds.

Live

Live safety recalls

We check NHTSA recalls for every vehicle and flag the urgent ones — Park It, Park Outside, and over-the-air-update advisories — so you know before you drive. Acknowledge each campaign and track it on the timeline.

Live

Documents in the garage

Attach receipts, manuals, photos, and invoices straight to the vehicle. Backed by Cloudflare R2 with secure presigned links — your paperwork lives with the car, not in a shoebox.

On the roadmap

Recall push monitoring

We watch NHTSA and alert you the moment a new campaign drops.

Maintenance schedule library

Mileage intervals for oil, coolant, brakes, timing belt — what's due next.

NHTSA complaints & TSBs

See what owners reported about your model and pull service bulletins.

Calendar sync

A .ics feed of upcoming maintenance to your phone calendar.

NHTSA recalls are matched by year, make, and model — confirm campaign applicability with your dealer. GearHeadOS isn't affiliated with NHTSA; we use their public data to keep your garage honest.

How it works

From driveway to documented in minutes

No setup marathon. Add a car, log life as it happens, and the record builds itself.

  1. 1

    Add a vehicle

Decode the VIN to pre-fill year, make, model, and trim — or enter the details manually for that hand-built special.

  2. 2

    Log what you do

Record maintenance, add parts, and attach receipts and photos as you go — seconds per entry, not minutes.

  3. 3

    Get the full story

Watch the timeline come together per build — and get reminded what's due next before it turns into a roadside moment.

No corporate boardroom here

Every legendary build starts on cold concrete.

GearHeadOS was built in an actual garage — grease under the fingernails, a notebook full of half-legible mileage logs, and a running list of “there has to be a better way.” So we built one.

FAQ

Questions, answered

The short version of everything you might want to know before you open the garage doors.

Is my data really private?

Yes. Self-host or use our cloud — your garage, your records, and your records are exportable anytime. Nothing is sold, no ad tracking.

Can I track project and build cars, not just daily drivers?

That's the whole point. Daily drivers, track toys, and "one day" builds all live in one garage — status and all.

How many vehicles can I track?

No caps — track everything from a daily driver to a multi-decade restoration project, all in one garage.

Can I export everything?

Yes. CSV and PDF export mean your data is never locked in — run it yourself, take it with you, anytime.

Is there a mobile app?

GearHeadOS is a responsive web app today that works great on a phone. A native app is on the roadmap.

Do I need to be technical to self-host?

No. The one-command Docker setup has you running in minutes — the same way the project's own PostgreSQL runs.
